What can I do if I'm having problems logging in to the databases or course reserves from off-campus?
- Generally, access to databases, electronic journals, and course reserve titles is limited to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff.
- If you are currently a Ball State student or faculty/staff member, you'll need to enter your Ball State username and password when prompted to gain access from off-campus.
- If you don't currently have a Ball State username and password, and you are a student/faculty member, please contact the Technology HelpDesk for assistance.
- The Technology Help Desk offers password recovery options if you have forgotten your password.
- If you try accessing other BSU services like Canvas, mybsu, or Webmail and also have problems, you will need to contact the Technology HelpDesk for help.
- If none of these strategies resolve the problem, please use our Ask a Librarian service, or call the library at 765-285-1101.
I'm having trouble using the databases or course reserves from off-campus. What can I do?
If you log in successfully, but have trouble with specific databases and journals or with course reserves, please try the following solutions:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies; this solves most problems for users.
- Update your browser to the latest release and then restart your browser.
- Try accessing the resources using your browser's "private" or "incognito" mode.
- Your browser must accept cookies and have JavaScript enabled, which is the default for most browsers. If you have changed this setting, you may need to change it back.
- Try a different web browser. Recommended browsers would be Chrome and Firefox.
- If possible, try using a different network to access the Internet. Some workplace or business networks can disrupt access to resources.
- If possible, try a different device. i.e. If your phone isn't providing access, try a Windows computer or a Mac, or vice-versa.
- Try accessing resources via the BSU VPN (Virtual Private Network). The Technology HelpDesk can help you set this up. (Visit Secure Your Connection with VPN.)
- If none of these strategies resolve the problem, please use our Ask a Librarian service, or call the library at 765-285-1101.
