How can distance education students get books from the Ball State University Libraries?
- If you are registered with Ball State as a distance education student, circulating items you find in our collection via OneSearch can be mailed to you at our expense.
- Submit your request through Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad), choosing the Book option under New Request.
- Note: You are responsible for returning the item by the due date and covering the costs of return shipping.

Can distance education students come to the University Libraries and check out books?
- Distance education students may check out items from the Ball State University Libraries.
- If you have a BSU student ID, that serves as your library card.
- If you do not have a student ID, bring a photo ID like a driver’s license to the library in order to check out items.
How can I find e-books to view remotely?
- Go to OneSearch and input your search.
- On the search results page, narrow the search using the tools on the left.
- Under "Refine Your Search," select "eBook Full Text Online."
Can books I find at other universities through WorldCat or other databases be sent to my home address?
- Interlibrary Loan requests for items not owned by Ball State may only be delivered to and picked up at Bracken Library on campus.
- Other options:
- Contact your local public library, which may offer interlibrary loan services for a small cost or for free.
- If you live near a library which has membership in ALI (Academic Libraries of Indiana), you can obtain borrowing privileges at that library by contacting our Interlibrary Loan department at interlib@bsu.edu or 765-285-1324.
