Jackson Harmeyer joined Ball State University as Music Librarian in August 2022. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, his master’s degrees are from University of Louisville (MM in Music History) and Indiana University (MLS in Music Librarianship). He has written and presented on spectral music, including his master’s thesis, “Liminal Aesthetics: Perspectives on Harmony and Timbre in the Music of Olivier Messiaen, Tristan Murail, and Kaija Saariaho,” and conference paper, “Uncharted Territories: Collection Development of Unfamiliar Musical Idioms, and a Practical Case for Spectral Music.” Previously, Jackson served as Director of Scholarship to the Sugarmill Music Festival, and he has also worked as a concert annotator, music blogger, and composer.
