1. Navigate to your Omeka dashboard.
2. Select "Exhibits" from the menu on the left side of the dashboard. Note: If you do not see "Exhibits" as an option, the plugin "Exhibit Builder" has not been installed. Please refer to the Omeka Plugins page for further direction.
3. Select the "Add an Exhibit" button on the "Browse Exhibits" page.
4. Fill out all of the metadata fields to describe the exhibit. You need to create a title as well as the slug (the unique part of the URL for the exhibit - ".../exhibits/SLUG") before you can save exhibit. You are also given the options to add credits, tags, a description of the exhibit, use a summary page, or upload a cover image.
5. Once the metadata is filled out for the exhibit, it is time to select "Add Page" at the bottom of the "Add Exhibit" page.
6. Fill out the metadata for this page of the exhibit. It asks for similar information as the Exhibit metadata. It needs a Title and a slug. Additionally, it asks for "Menu Link Title" which allows you to create a shorter title for the exhibit's secondary menu.
7. Select one of the content blocks listed at the bottom of the page. It is important to understand that Exhibit Builder "chunks up" content on exhibit pages. This means that a single exhibit page can have multiple content blocks on it. It will become clearer as you move further along. Once you select a content block, click on the "Add New Content Block" button at the bottom. I will be using the "File with Text" content block.
8. You will remain on the "Add Page" page and a "Block 1" section will open. Click on the "Add Item"
9. The new window will list all of the items that have been uploaded to the Omeka site. Select the desired file and click "Select Item".
10. The following window allows you to add a caption to the item. When finished, select "Apply".
11. With the file added to the content block, now you can provide a description in the "Text" field. Additionally, you have some control over the file size, file position, and caption position, which can be found under "Layout Options".
12. Now, finish this editing session by selecting "Save Changes" on the right hand side. You can now add a second content block to this page or select "Save and Add Another Page" to begin this process over for a second exhibit page. When you do save the page, a little banner will appear at the top of the page letting you know that the page has been saved.
