Standard Industrial Classification Manual OnlineLook up the definition of an SIC using a number, find an SIC using keywords, or use SIC Manual link to drill down to a SIC code.

North American Industry Classification System Manual OnlineLook up the definition of a NAICS code, find a NAICS code using keywords, or drill down to an NAICS code using the 2022 NAICS link in the left column under Reference Files.

Data Axle Reference Solutions This link opens in a new windowClick on the link above and select U.S. Businesses, then Advanced Search. Put a check in the Keyword/SIC/NAICS box under Business Type in the left column. A box will appear to the right called Keyword/SIC/NAICS. Select Search All NAICS and enters a keyword or two describing your company and then click on the blue Show 2-6 Digit Codes button. Related NAICS Codes will show up in the box below it. Select the one(s) you want and click on the green View Results button in the right column. For more information about the codes, look them up on the NAICS site linked in this box.

Business Source Complete This link opens in a new windowBusiness Source Complete contains industry reports. Enter the name of an industry in the search box and look for Industry Profiles under Source Types in the left column of a results list.

Standard and Poor's Net Advantage This link opens in a new windowStandard & Poor's Industry Surveys cover issues, trends, and outlooks for more than 50 industries. Click on Markets and select Industry Surveys under Market Research. Then sort by title by clicking on Headline and look for a survey that look's useful. Alternatively, use the main search box to look up a company in the industry you would like to research. Look for the Industry Survey link under My Links in the left column and click on the headline on the results list.

Tip: Trade organizations and trade publications may also have Industry Information. Trade publications can be found in Business Source Elite. You can identify and locate trade organization websites using Google or Bing.
