The Chicago Style is a citation style that is commonly used by those who work in literature, history, and the arts. This style may also be used by those working in science and social science. There are two systems of source citation for the Chicago style. You will see a basic description of the methods on the Notes and Bibliography Style Basics tab and the Author- Date Style Basics tabs on this guide.
The Chicago Manual of Style guides both students and professionals on how to format academic papers, and on how to cite specific information, ideas, and quotations used in academic work. This guide is based on information found in the 17th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style and gives examples of how to format citations for bibliographies and notes. It also gives examples of in-text citations.
