If no library is named in the book's location, the book is located in Bracken Library; if the books is in one of the branch libraries, that library will be named in the location. You can start looking for books about a topic by using OneSearch's basic search on the University Libraries' homepage.
Type your search terms in the OneSearch search box, then click the red button.
A number of filters are available in the column on the left side of the results page. Near the top of this column, find the "Content Type" filter and check the box for "Book/eBook." If book/ebook does not appear among the top four or five options within the filter, type "book" in the text box above the filter, then check "Book/eBook."

Optionally, you can check one or two additional boxes in the "Refine your search" filter.
On your list of search terms, electronic items will be marked with a "Full Text Online" button. Printed items on your lists of results will be accompanied by location information: One of the campus' four libraries, a collection (or area) within that library, and the item's call number.
You will find more filters on the left side of the search page, such as "discipline" and "subject terms," which you can optionally use to continue refining your search.
Chapters from physical books in University Libraries' collections can be obtained through document delivery.
Begin searching for book chapters by typing your search terms in the OneSearch box on the Libraries' homepage and then clicking the magnifying glass button. On the results page, apply two filters from the column on the left, "Library Catalog" and "Book/eBook."
Physical books in the Libraries' collections will be accompanied by their location within one of Ball State's four libraries. You can click the book's title to see more information about the book, often include its table of contents. You can peruse the table of contents to see if the book includes a chapter about your research topic.
If you find a book chapter that you would like to access, you can request an electronic copy of it through ILLiad, the Libraries' online document delivery and interlibrary loan service. Log into ILLiad with your Ball State username and password. After you've logged in, on the left side of the page below the "new request" heading, find and click the "book chapter" link.
Complete the book chapter request form and click the "submit" button at the bottom of the page. You will receive an email alert when the book chapter is available. Sign back into ILLiad and click "electronically received articles" under the "view" heading to find a link to a PDF copy of the chapter.
