- Technology Help Desk EndNote DownloadClick on the EndNote download link. Select the correct file for your operating system and follow the o-screen instructions. Log in using your BSU username and password. If you are installing this on a PC, once the zip file is downloaded make sure you click on "Extract all files." See "Installing on a PC" in the Additional Resources box below for additional information.
Note: Mac users will need to create a library before opening EndNote 20 the first time. Once installed, users should click on the EndNote icon on their computer. Then click on the File tab at the top of their screen and select New. Name the library and save it.

Solutions to Common Issues
1. Downloaded citations are not opening in EndNote.
Citation downloads have an .ris file extension. Sometimes your computer does not know what application to open the file with once it is downloaded or it may want to open it with another application (e.g. Zotero or Mendeley). These instructions will show you how to tell your operating system to open .ris files with EndNote.
2. EndNote tools do not install in Word
When EndNote is installed it creates a new tab in Microsoft Word which has tools to add and format citations (aka CWYW). Occasionally this is not installed. The link below provides links to articles for both MACs and PCs.
3. Firefox doesn't open exported citations
Some may wish to use Firefox rather than Chrome. Firefox may not open downloaded citations automatically. See the following instructions for details.
4. Would like to get citations from a word bibliography into EndNote
See the link below if you would like take citations from your Word bibliography, Mendeley or Zotero, and export them to an EndNote Bibliography.

5. The citation style I need is not current or not available in EndNote
