Find Library Materials

For music searching, use Advanced Search and select the desired format: "compact disc, audio" or "score, musical."  Fill in as many specific terms as you know.  Performers, composers, and lyricists are "authors" in library catalogs.  You can combine performers using "and," for example, "Coltrane and Gillespie."  Titles of songs are best searched as keywords.

  • CardCat

Search this online library catalog to find relevant books, DVDs, CDs, and more available in the Ball State University Libraries collections. Choose "Advanced Search" to search for specific formats and to combine search terms. Performers are "authors."
  • WorldCat

Search WorldCat for titles held by libraries all over the U.S. and across the world. Once you find a title, use Interlibrary Loan services to request that it be sent to you at Ball State University. You can click through to Interlibrary loan from Ball State's subscription.
  • WorldCat.org

A free version of the WorldCat database (listed above) that provides basic information about titles and what libraries own them. Libraries are listed in order of distance from your zip code.
