Music CDs Genre Guide

Lists of CDs based on more specific genres than are used in the Libraries' cataloging system (Library of Congress subjects)

About the Genre Guide

The Music Collection of Bracken Library includes more than 20,000 compact discs, kept behind the circulation counter.  A large binder listing the non-classical CDs according to specific genres sits in the middle of the counter to give users quick and logical access to the call numbers of CDs they might want to hear.  Music Collection Night Supervisor Jeremiah Smith updates the guide whenever new CDs arrive in the collection.  Although all CDs are discoverable in OneSearch, subject terminology is rather vague:  "Rock Music, 1971-1980 could mean folk-rock of James Taylor or the glam rock of Queen or punk music by The Sex Pistols.

The guides presented here are downloadable .pdf lists of genres you might find in an old-fashioned record store.  Whether you want to binge on old-time soul music or explore Bollywood hits, it's all at your fingertips!
