Newest!  Rota, Nino.  La notte di un nevrastenico (The Night of a Neurotic) and I due timidi (The Two Timid Ones)

Rota, known mainly for his compositions for the films of Federico Fellini and for the soundtrack to "The Godfather," was also a composer of operas.  These two one-act operas were composed in the early 1950s.  La notte di un nevrastenico is a "dramma buffo" about a man whose wish to have no neighbors next to his hotel room is thwarted by a local event, and I due timidi is about two neighbors who are too shy to admit their attraction to each other.

Thanks to a generous donation, The Music Collection holds several never-on-CD titles from trad-jazz label, Stomp-Off Records.   These recordings date from the 1980s, a high-water mark in the revival movement of traditional jazz, i.e., the jazz style of the 1910s and a little beyond.  During this period, groups performed in local clubs and at many jazz festivals around the country.
