Tests freely available online

Most tests and measures are not available for free online, but some tools are.

Here are a few websites that offer free access to tests: 

  • DASS: Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales. 
    • From the website: "The DASS is a 42-item self report instrument designed to measure the three related negative emotional states of depression, anxiety and tension/stress."



  • RAND Health: Free health-related surveys and scales, including health behaviors
    • From the website: "All of the surveys from RAND Health are public documents, available without charge. Please provide an appropriate citation when using these products. In some cases, the materials themselves include specific instructions for citation."


  • SMRC: Self-Management Resource Center Evaluation Tools. Free scales related to health behaviors, skills, and health status.
    • From the website: "These scales are here for you to use in your own research at no cost and without permission, thanks to funding from the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR)."
