Research Help

There are many other ways to ask a librarian a question:

  • Chat (see the Live Chat box on the bottom right)
  • Text message
  • E-mail
  • In person
  • Over the phone
  • By appointment (in person or Skype)

Click here for information regarding these options, or check out my information to the right.

These links below may help you answer your question, but if not, then there are many ways to contact a librarian to ask your question (see the box to the right).

Did you know???

You probably know that Skype enables face-to-face connections, but did you know it also has a screensharing feature? By sharing what appears on our screen, we can do a step-by-step demonstration far easier than phone, email, and chat allow. Sound good? Request an appointment by following the instructions on the right!

Request a Skype Appointment

The University Libraries now provides personalized, one-on-one research assistance over Skype. We recommend that your computer meets the requirements outlined by Skype (http://www.skype.com) and that you are on a wired internet connection.  We cannot provide technical assistance with Skype or the installation process.  Skype provides thorough support documentation here: https://support.skype.com/en-us/

To request an appointment, send an email (at least one business day in advance of your desired appointment time) to consult@bsu.edu with the following information:

  • Name
  • BSU email address
  • Skype username
  • Phone number (where we can reach you in case of technical difficulties)
  • Status (faculty, staff, graduate student, etc.)
  • Department and/or major
  • Research topic, including any places you've looked thus far and/or any sources you've found
  • At least three different date/time options

Appointments may last up to 60 minutes and are generally scheduled between 8am and 5pm Eastern time, Monday through Friday. Special requests for evening and/or weekend appointments will be accommodated if possible; be aware that such requests may require more lead-time.
