Searching OneSearch to find books

To get started, type your search in the OneSearch search box.

Your results will include a variety of types of resources.  To limit your results to those titles owned by the BSU Libraries, click on "Library Catalog" on the left, under Refine Your Search.

Consider going to the Advanced Search screen (the link is to the right of the basic search box)...

...choosing "Subject Terms" in the drop-down menu left of a search box, and typing in one of the subject headings listed below:

WorldCat Search Tips:

  • You can limit your search to a specific type or format.  Know that WorldCat contains mostly books.
  • Items owned by Ball State University Libraries are noted in WorldCat.  Use OneSearch to find the call number to use to find the book at Ball State.
  • Items not owned by Ball State University Libraries can be requested through our interlibrary loan service.  Click on the link in WorldCat to request an item through this service.  Books will be mailed to the Ball State University and must be returned there.

Use Google Books to see previews of books before you check them out or before you request them from other libraries. 

Note that few of the books are available online in their entirety.
